Notary Office
A notary is a legal professional, vested with public faith by the State, who provides legal certainty in the acts and facts he certifies, always maintaining a high level of professionalism, total impartiality toward the people receiving the service, and full autonomy in decisions limited only by the legal framework and the rule of law.
The notary exercises the function independently of public authorities and private individuals. In doing so, the notary receives, interprets, drafts, and gives legal form to the parties' intentions by expressing them in a public and authentic instrument, prepared under the notary's responsibility, which may be a public deed when certifying a legal act, such as a contract, or a notarial record when certifying a legal or material fact, such as a notice or a certification of facts.
The notary keeps and reproduces the instrument, thereby providing security and peace of mind to society. The notary also assists local and federal authorities in calculating and collecting taxes and duties, and ensures that the acts executed before the notary are duly recorded.
The head of Notary Office 133 of the State of Yucatán is Lourdes Eugenia Castellanos González, who holds a law degree from Universidad Marista de Yucatán and a master's degree in Taxation. She has more than 20 years of experience in notarial law and is a translator registered with the State Judiciary Council for English and French translations.
